ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Three Rivers School is home to fifth and sixth grade students of Channahon.  Fifth grade is a self-contained elementary school environment where students are assigned to one classroom teacher.  Sixth grade is scheduled and aligned to a departmentalized Junior High School setting.   In a Junior High setting, students can have a different teacher for each of their subjects of study.  The mix of students also changes with each class.

Fifth grade students move as a class to their arts rotation classes such as music, art, computers, and lab.  The school year consists of four quarters; each quarter lasting approximately 9 weeks.  Students attend a different arts rotation class each quarter.  This is a unique opportunity for our fifth graders that is more commonly seen in a Junior High setting.  PE classes are attended every day.  Students wear their regular school clothing in PE; however they do change into tennis shoes specifically for PE.

Sixth grade students take on greater responsibilities in staying organized and meeting time limits in order to start class on time.  In addition to quarterly arts rotation classes, sixth grade students participate in PE every day.  Students wear their regular school clothing in PE class; however they do change into tennis shoes specifically for PE.

Both fifth and sixth grade students have the opportunity to attend many after school activities including various sports (baseball, basketball, volleyball, track, cross-country, and wrestling) and clubs (homework club, art club, and park district activities sponsored after school).  The 5th grade athletes participate in an intramural sports program with the exception of wrestling and cross country. Our 6th grade athletes participate in a more competitive program involving try-outs and cuts.

Thank You! - The staff at Three Rivers School would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to its parents, students, and the entire Channahon community for supporting our 5th Annual Christmas Dance for Charity which was held on Friday, December 4, 2009. The fifth and sixth grade students enjoyed an afternoon of music, friendship, food, and fun, all in the name of giving. The proceeds that were raised during the dance will be donated to Children’s Memorial Hospital, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Thanks again for your support during this holiday season.
